About Cinephil
Cinephil is an Israeli film company specializing in the international distribution and co-production of documentary films. Founded in 2003 and based in Tel Aviv, we have spent over two decades connecting the world’s most compelling non-fiction films with the audiences and broadcasters who need to see them.
Our Mission
We believe documentary film is one of the most powerful tools for understanding our world. We work with directors who have urgent stories to tell — about history, justice, identity, politics, and the human condition — and we help those stories reach the widest possible audience.
What We Do
International Sales & Distribution
We represent documentary films for international sales, handling theatrical distribution, broadcast licensing, streaming platform deals, DVD rights, and educational distribution. Our network covers 40+ countries across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.
Co-Production
Cinephil actively co-produces documentary projects from development through post-production and delivery. We bring not just financing but strategic expertise in international positioning and festival strategy.
Festival Strategy
We have deep relationships with Cannes, SXSW, Sundance, Hot Docs, IDFA, DocAviv, Jerusalem Film Festival, and many others.
Our Founder
Philippa Kobryn founded Cinephil in 2003 after a decade working in international film sales and festival programming. Under her leadership, Cinephil has handled distribution of films that have won Academy Awards, premiered at Cannes, and screened in over 60 countries.
